What private label means here

"Private label" gets used loosely. Some suppliers mean picking stock designs from a catalogue and adding your logo. That is closer to white label: the same garment can end up with many brands.

With Sourcingo, private label means your designs, made for your brand. You start from a brief, a sketch, a mood board or a full tech pack. The garments are developed, sampled and produced to your specifications, and finished with your labels, tags and packaging.

Designs are made only for the brand that owns them. They are never offered to other brands. If you have spent months developing a print or a fit, that matters.

From brief to finished goods

You do not need to arrive with production-ready files. Many brands start with:

  • Sketches, hand-drawn or digital
  • Mood boards and colour references
  • Photos of garments they like, with notes on what to change
  • A sample from their current range they want to rework

Our in-house designer turns these into flat sketches and tech packs. Sourcingo sources the fabric and trims, then samples the style until the fit is right. You sign off on fit, fabric and finish before anything goes into bulk.

If you already have tech packs, we work from those and flag anything that is unclear or likely to cause problems in production.

Your labels, tags and packaging

The details that make a garment look like yours are trims, and they belong in the tech pack like any other component. Spell out:

  • Main label. Woven, printed or heat-transfer; size, colours, and where it is attached (neck, side seam, inside hem).
  • Size label. Separate or combined with the main label.
  • Care and content label. Fibre composition, wash instructions and country of origin. Requirements vary by market, so check what your destination country requires.
  • Hang tags. Card weight, finish, string or loop, and whether price stickers or barcodes go on the tag.
  • Packaging. Folding method, polybag or paper alternative, tissue, stickers, inner and outer cartons, and carton markings.
  • Barcodes. If your retailer or warehouse needs barcodes on tags or polybags, send the codes and format early.

Custom trims sometimes carry their own minimums, which can affect a small first order. We will tell you when that applies.

The six steps

  1. Brief. You send product categories and roughly how many styles, quantity per style and per colour, target cost or retail price, size range and fit (Indian, international or both), launch date, and any sketches, mood boards or tech packs.
  2. Costing and line plan. With a complete brief, you get a costing and line plan within 48 hours. This shows where your targets are realistic and where a fabric or detail needs a rethink.
  3. Design and tech packs. Our in-house designer produces flat sketches and tech packs where you do not have them. We match each style to a partner factory from 80+ verified units across seven hubs, based on what the factory does well.
  4. Sampling and sign-off. Every style is sampled. You review fit, fabric and finish, comment, and approve. Sampling time depends on the style and how quickly approvals come back.
  5. Production. Bulk runs 45 days from sample approval to dispatch. Our own team monitors production on the factory floor.
  6. Quality check, packing and shipping. Finished goods are checked against the approved sample before packing in your labels and packaging. For brands abroad, logistics support includes customs clearance.

After your first order is confirmed, your team gets a login to the client portal. It shows stage-by-stage status, sample approvals and comments, and due and delivery dates.

What to send to get started

The faster we get a complete brief, the faster the costing comes back. A good first message covers:

Item Why it matters
Categories and number of styles Decides which hubs and factories fit
Quantity per style and per colour Sets minimums and fabric buying
Target cost or retail price Shapes fabric and finish choices
Size range and fit Indian, international or both changes patterns and grading
Launch date Works back to sampling and production dates
Sketches, mood boards or tech packs The design starting point

If some of this is unknown, send what you have. A rough quantity range is more useful than none.

Which products we make

Private label work covers the catalogue's four verticals, for men, women and kids:

  • Knits: T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, hoodies, sweaters, track pants, activewear, leggings, nightwear, rompers.
  • Woven: shirts, trousers, denim, chinos, dresses, kurtas, blazers, jackets, sarees, lehengas, school uniforms.
  • Footwear: sandals, sneakers, loafers, boots, heels, ethnic footwear, kids' school shoes.
  • Accessories: wallets, belts, backpacks, totes, sling bags, laptop bags, pouches.

Each style is matched to a factory that specialises in that kind of product. A hoodie and a block printed kurta should not come from the same line.

Certifications and compliance

Some brands need factory certifications for their retailers or customers. Certifications are held by partner factories, including ISO, Sedex, GOTS and OEKO-TEX among them. Factory-wise copies are shared on request before an order, so you can check the specific unit making your goods.

Questions

Do I own my designs?

Your designs are made only for your brand and are never offered to other brands. If you need formal terms on design ownership for your own records, raise it when we discuss your order.

Can I start with only a sketch or a reference photo?

Yes. Our in-house designer turns sketches, mood boards and reference photos into flat sketches and tech packs, and we sample until the fit is right.

What is the minimum order for private label?

From 25 pieces per style. Some fabrics, dyes, prints and custom trims need more. The exact minimum is confirmed after we see your specs.

Can you supply my woven labels and hang tags?

Labels, tags and packaging are trims, specified in the tech pack. Send your artwork and requirements and we will include them in the costing and sampling.

How long does private label production take?

Production takes 45 days from sample approval to dispatch. Sampling comes before that, and its length depends on the style and how fast approvals come back.
